Job Description

The Townsville City Council is hiring a Protocol & Events Officer for a permanent full-time position in Townsville, Australia. Applicants should have qualifications in Events Management or relevant experience, along with a Blue Card for working with children. The role involves planning and delivering council-led events and providing protocol advice. The salary ranges from $79,414 to $85,123 per annum, plus superannuation.
• Permanent Full Time opportunity available (9 day fortnight)
• Cert IV or Diploma level qualification in Events Management and/or administration, and/or equivalent relevant experience in the events industry.
• Blue Card (Working with Children)
• Salary LGO 4 ($79,414 - $85,123 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role

This position plays a key role in providing advice and technical expertise in the creation, planning and delivery of council led events including civic receptions, ceremonies and special events and working collaboratively across Council to champion our purpose of Growing Townsville and to deliver the Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville Community.

The team is the key point of contact for protocol advice and guidance for council. The team also assists in the identification of non-council events that would add value to council’s program of events in engaging the community and enhancing the lifestyle of Townsville residents.

About You

Our ideal applicant will have demonstrated experience in the technical and practical aspects of event and project management including concept development, negotiating contracts, risk management, marketing, and budgeting.

High level coordination and time management skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously .
