Primary Talent Partners is seeking a Project Manager II for a 12-month contract in Plainfield, IN, focusing on energy projects. The role involves leadership, team management, stakeholder communication, and project planning/execution. The position offers $70-$77/hr with no benefits, and requires a standard 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday.
Primary Talent Partners has a new 12 month contract Project Manager opening with an Energy client operating out of Plainfield, IN. Potential for contract renewal or direct-hire opportunities are dependent upon performance and company budget.

Pay: $70 - $77/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule: Mon - Fri standard business hours; 40-hour work week

Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager II (PM-II) to lead and oversee a dynamic project team. In this role, you will provide leadership, direction, and coordination with various internal and external teams, ensuring projects are executed successfully within scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality constraints. The PM-II will guide matrixed team members, resolve conflicts, and maintain effective communication between stakeholders, team members, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:
• Provide leadership, oversight, direction, and coordination to internal and external organizations supporting the project (e.g., Development, Engineering, Project Controls, Estimating, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Stakeholder Engagement, Regulatory, Security, Fuels, Transmission, etc.).
• Guide and oversee matrixed team members daily, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Interface with functional leaders to manage team placement, development, and conflict resolution.

Stakeholder Communication:
• Establish and maintain clear, open communications among all project/program stakeholders.
• Lead and/or support project-related meetings, ensuring alignment and information flow between team members, stakeholders, and management.
• Prepare and communicate monthly project status reports, kickoff meetings, and other required updates.
• Ensure Project Plans and reporting mechanisms are developed and communicated according to PMCoE Standards and Business Unit procedures.

Project Planning & Execution:
• Lead the process of project planning, including scope and work definition, estimating, schedule formation, cost control, procurement strategies, and vendor selection.
• Champion the development of key project documents such as the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), risk plan, quality plan, safety plan, environmental plan, and communications plan.
• Oversee project execution within approved scope, budget, and timeline, ensuring project goals and deliverables are met.
• Monitor and ensure the effective management of project objectives, stakeholders, resources, budgets, schedules, and other critical factors.

Qualifications:

Preferred Education & Certifications:
• Master’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or related field, or
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
• Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) preferred.
• Utility Technical Certifications/Training preferred.
• Construction Management Institute International (CMII) Certification a plus.

Experience & Skills:
• Proven experience in leading and executing utility-related projects, including Transmission, Distribution, and/or Generation.
• Strong expertise in project management, decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Experience with risk management, project leadership, and collaboration across multiple functional areas.
• In-depth knowledge of construction management principles.
• Proficient or expert-level experience in project scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to manage fast-paced projects requiring flexibility, effective prioritization, and timely decision-making.
• Utility business unit experience (regulated or commercial energy services) is a plus.

Additional Information: This position will require the ability to manage complex and fast-paced projects, including the ability to prioritize tasks and navigate changing demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility projects, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams to drive project success.
