Project Finance and Economic Modeller

OW Ocean Winds is seeking a Project Finance and Economic Modeller in Edinburgh, UK. The role involves managing project finance documents, coordinating lender interactions, and conducting economic evaluations for projects. Key responsibilities include monitoring lender covenants, maintaining economic models, and supporting financial decision-making processes. Candidates should have a degree in finance or related fields and experience in economic/financial modelling, preferably in energy or infrastructure projects.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Project Finance and Economic Modeller will be responsible for handling the Project Finance documents and coordinating lender responses and requests and manage the economic evaluation and analysis for Ocean Winds in the UK.

Lastly, the Project Finance Associate will be responsible for the management of the loan structure and project credit support. This role will report to the Head of Corp. and Financial Planning UK and work closely with the wider corporate finance team.




MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Coordinate lender responses and requests, updating DSCR statement making debt repayments & distributions, addressing any ad-hoc waiver request

• Coordinate the lender covenant monitoring process, ensuring that areas of potential non-compliance are identified and escalated.

• Coordinate reporting to lenders, being aware of deadlines and deliverables and interact with the rest of the teams within the company providing inputs in a timely manner.

• Continuously maintain, enhance and operate economic models to provide reporting to the project management team, UK business unit finance team and project stakeholders such as lenders and lenders’ advisors.

• Engage with wider project team including project controls, commercial and technical staff to define and optimise the interface between project cost and technical parameters and the financial model.

• Provide detailed analysis of the ongoing economics of projects which can be reported at board level.

• Provide regular and ad hoc analysis to support project and financial decision-making processes.

• Support yearly business planning with regards to financial modelling and contribute to the integration between project financial models and requirements of project sponsors and lenders.

• Engage with independent financial advisors where required in order to develop and validate financial models and associated assumptions.

• Support shareholders to place and manage equity bridge loans.

• Support the project treasury teams in administering and tracking loans for UK projects.




PREFERRED ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• A degree in finance, economics, mathematics or engineering is required.

• Demonstrable professional experience in economic/financial modelling is required

• Professional experience of economic/financial modelling in the context of energy/infrastructure projects is highly desirable.




REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Demonstrable knowledge/skills in the following areas is required:

• Advanced Excel based modelling skills.

• Demonstrable business, economic and financial knowledge.

• Knowledge of energy or other infrastructure projects.

Demonstrable knowledge/skills in the following areas is desirable:

• Corporate and energy project finance structuring.

• Renewable energy technologies and project economics.

• UK tax and accounting practices.




SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:

• Self-starter with a proactive approach.

• Ability to communicate across all levels of the project team and to engage (where required) with external stakeholders.

• Attentive to detail with strong logical structuring, written communication, organisational and time management skills.




LANGUAGES: The project has an international team of employees and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.
