Forbes Bros. Group is seeking a Project Environmental Manager for a full-time, permanent role in North Platte, NE, to oversee environmental management in a large transmission construction project. The position involves working closely with construction teams, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and leading environmental initiatives on-site. The job requires a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation and significant on-site presence.

About the Role
We are hiring a Project Environmental Manager to support a large-scale transmission construction project in the North Central United States.
This is a site-based leadership role responsible for integrating environmental requirements directly into construction execution. You will work alongside construction leadership and field teams to ensure environmental performance is maintained while supporting project delivery.


This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable operating in an active construction environment, making real-time decisions, and working closely with field teams to manage environmental risk effectively.


What You’ll Do

Lead environmental management activities across active construction work fronts
Work directly with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Managers to integrate environmental requirements into daily operations
Interpret permits, approvals, and environmental commitments and translate them into clear, actionable direction for field teams
Identify environmental risks and implement practical mitigation strategies aligned with construction schedules
Provide leadership and guidance to Environmental Specialists on site
Support incident response, including spill management, investigations, and corrective actions
Oversee environmental programs including erosion and sediment control, SWPPP, wildlife management, access control, and reclamation
Support environmental reporting, documentation, and project closeout activities
Interface with clients and regulatory stakeholders as required

What You Bring

8+ years of environmental experience in construction, utilities, or industrial projects
Experience working directly with construction teams in active project environments
Strong understanding of environmental permitting, compliance, and field implementation
Demonstrated ability to translate environmental requirements into practical field execution
Experience leading or mentoring environmental staff
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
Strong communication and coordination skills across field and project teams

Work Environment
This role operates on a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation, supporting a live construction project. The position requires consistent on-site presence and collaboration with field and project teams.
