Invenergy is seeking a Project Engineer for Renewable Engineering (Solar) in Chicago, IL. About the position

The Project Engineer (Renewable Engineering) will perform engineering activities to support project development and assist with the technical design and evaluation of utility-scale solar projects in Invenergy's target markets. This role involves analyzing project constraints, optimizing layouts, and ensuring compliance with permitting requirements while collaborating with various teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
• Define project constraints and buildable area considering existing infrastructure, topography, hydrology, and subsurface ground conditions
,
• Prepare conceptual project layouts and optimize layouts to maximize project value
,
• Analyze available meteorological datasets and apply long-term correlation to assess project resource characteristics
,
• Estimate project annual energy production, energy uncertainty, energy probability values, and time-based production profiles
,
• Conduct site visits to assess site suitability, participate in landowner meetings and community outreach events, and participate in monthly construction meetings
,
• Assist with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts
,
• Support the preparation of project sales proposals
,
• Support project financing by responding to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions
,
• Interface with the Project Management, Project Electrical Engineering, and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline
,
• 3+ years of engineering or related technical discipline experience
,
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice-to-haves
• Master's Degree is a plus
,
• Renewable Engineering experience is a plus
,
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
,
• Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
,
• Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
,
• Demonstrated interest in renewable energy
,
• Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds
,
• Familiarity with resource and energy modeling software including PVsyst and SAM
,
• Familiarity with site design tools including AutoCAD and GIS software
,
• Knowledge of meteorological data sources, long term correlation methods, and other statistical analysis
,
• Knowledge of energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE
