Your role and key responsibilities

This role supports energy procurement through analysis of invoices, market trends, and regulatory changes. The co-op develops dashboards and reports to track procurement KPIs and identify cost‑saving opportunities. They collaborate with cross‑functional teams to communicate insights and support sourcing activities. The role also assists with indirect procurement tasks and coordination of procurement events.

What you bring to the team
• Energy Invoicing Analysis (25%)
• Research Ontario’s energy markets, including IESO pricing structures, demand response programs, and renewable energy opportunities.
• Analyze energy invoices and consumption data to identify cost-saving opportunities and support sustainability goals.
• Track actual v/s forecasted energy spend and provide variance analysis.
• Energy Market & Regulatory Analysis (25%)
• Monitor Ontario energy market trends, including the newly released Market Renewal Program, policy changes to Ontario’s corporate PPA market, Global Adjustment (GA), and other cost drivers.
• Stay informed on regulatory updates and summarize potential impacts on energy procurement strategies.
• Data Analysis & Reporting (20%)
• Develop dashboards and reports to track procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and market trends.
• Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting (15%)
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Indirect Procurement, Central Functions & Value Chain Strategy, Battery Components, Raw & Active Materials Procurement, Global Energy Procurement team, Sustainability, and Operations) to prepare clear and concise reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
• Support senior team members in communicating procurement insights and recommendations.
• Procurement Event Planning & Coordination (15%)
• Assist in organizing and executing corporate events such as Supplier Day, plant tours, and internal engagement activities.
• Coordinate logistics, vendor and supplier communications, and on-site support for events.
• Support post-event follow-ups, surveys, and reporting.

• Currently pursuing a master's degree in Engineering (Energy, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) or related technical fields with a strong focus of energy markets / renewable energy / sustainable energy.

This posting is for a currently vacant role. Hourly wage of $30/hour. This is a 4 or 8 month co-op term. This role is hybrid, with an on-site expectation of 3-4 days in office in St. Thomas.
