About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement and Contracts Manager to lead procurement strategies and contract management for large-scale renewable energy projects. This role is critical in managing EPC contracts, optimizing supplier performance, and ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with international standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement procurement strategies for EPC contracts in line with FIDIC frameworks.
• Lead high-value contract negotiations, securing optimal pricing, delivery timelines, and service quality.
• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, KPIs, and sustainability standards.
• Oversee procurement risk management, ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, FIDIC, and NEC frameworks.
• Provide expert guidance on FIDIC contract interpretation, execution, and dispute resolution.
• Support bid evaluations and selection of EPC contractors based on technical, commercial, and financial criteria.
• Conduct performance audits and implement corrective actions for EPC contractors and suppliers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and contract management to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with legal teams to refine EPC contract terms, resolve disputes, and manage contract variations.
• Ensure procurement aligns with sustainability, ESG, and ethical sourcing policies.
• Oversee logistics, inventory, and warehousing operations for project execution.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• EPC Contract Compliance - Ensure adherence to all contractual obligations under FIDIC terms.
• Cost Savings - Optimize costs through strategic negotiations and contract management.
• Supplier & EPC Contractor Performance - Monitor quality, timeliness, and adherence to contract terms.
• Procurement & Contract Cycle Time - Streamline processes from requisition to contract execution.
• Risk Mitigation - Identify and address procurement-related risks.
• Dispute Resolution Efficiency - Improve contract-related dispute resolution under FIDIC frameworks.
• Budget Adherence - Ensure procurement spend aligns with forecasted budgets.
• Process Improvements - Enhance procurement and contract management efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Competencies:
• Strong experience in FIDIC contract negotiation, execution, and compliance.
• Expertise in procurement strategies, supplier management, and global trade regulations.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale EPC contracts across multiple geographies.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in procurement, EPC contract management, or supply chain leadership within the renewable energy sector.
Location: Kenya
Salary: $60,000 to $72,000 USD Gross Per Annum
