With NSR’s commitment to meeting the operational emissions reduction targets for 2030 and 2050, we have a unique, permanent, full-time opportunity for a senior engineering professional to join us in the role of Principal Engineer – Decarbonisation. Reporting directly to the Group Manager - Clean Energy Transition, this key role will provide support, analysis and engineering input to our mining & processing assets to help achieve gold production safely and with the lowest energy and carbon intensity.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the Internal reporting, verification and forecasting of emissions, as well as project scoping, assessment, development, support and controls. You will also provide strong leadership through coaching, mentoring and offering your expertise and guidance to the broader operational teams, helping drive a positive & proactive workplace culture that reflects & promotes NSR’s Core Values.
• Identify and assess emissions reduction opportunities.
• Develop the emissions forecasting platform in conjunction with service providers.
• Investigate and document deviations from forecasts.
• Develop a decarbonisation initiative portfolio, based on criteria such as schedule and cost (incl Capex and marginal cost of carbon abatement), and progress appropriate documentation to support implementation
• Complete process engineering calculations which support environmental reporting process.
• Establish relationships with internal and external service providers who are involved in NGERS governance and reporting.
• Calculate and report greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with NGERS protocols as required.
• Review and assess the need for changes in NGERS reporting required due to regulatory or plant changes.
• Assist with audits as required.
• Support emissions reduction projects (mainly during the Study Phases) by developing schedules, basic renewable energy economic models, budgets, reporting, etc.

With at least three-plus years of experience in clean energy transition, decarbonisation & carbon accounting, you are dependable by nature, can adapt to constant change & ambiguity, and have a genuine passion for your work.

Qualifications.
• A Tertiary Qualification in Chemical, Process or Electrical Engineering.

Experience.
• Process Engineering and NGERS reporting experience within complex manufacturing, preferably in metals mining & processing.
• Relevant experience in carbon abatement opportunity identification and assessment, preferably in metals mining & processing.
• Project Management experience, especially within studies.
