Job Description

Futura Energy Group is seeking a PV Systems Project Engineer in Los Angeles, CA, to lead the development of cost-effective solar arrays. Responsibilities include cost modeling, innovating installation methodologies, managing vendors, and ensuring safety in construction. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 3 years of solar industry experience, and strong project management skills. The position offers a salary of $160K–$190K and is full-time.
Your mission is to drive the development and deployment of the ultra cost solar arrays ever constructed—pushing cost reductions in line with declines in photovoltaic modules. From the dirt to the power socket, you will own everything in between, relentlessly reducing balance-of-system costs to the physical limits.

As Photovoltaic Systems Lead Engineer, you will report directly to the CEO and lead the charge on installation system innovation, execution strategy, and vendor integration.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead detailed, bottom-up cost modeling for solar array systems
• Develop and iterate installation concepts of operation (CONOPS); run process tests to identify and eliminate sources of cost growth
• Innovate installation methodologies inspired by agriculture and large-scale land operations
• Specify and select balance-of-system components for performance, reliability, and cost
• Design tools, jigs, and fixtures to minimize labor intensity and error risk
• Manage external vendors, partners, and fabricators to deliver fully integrated systems
• Enforce a safe, high-reliability construction and testing environment
• Challenge conventional “best practices” to deliver breakthrough cost outcomes through novel, pragmatic engineering

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the solar industry
• Familiarity with relevant codes: NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and/or UL508A
• Proven track record managing complex design-build projects from concept through deployment
• Strong design intuition and/or analytical skills to rapidly converge on technically correct, elegant solutions

Preferred Qualifications
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
• Experience working with NFPA 2 (hydrogen systems), industrial automation, or factory controls
• Background in prototyping, fabrication, or on-site solar installation—especially in remote/desert environments
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, iterative, and unstructured environments
