Job Description
The Outreach Coordinator at Farmworkers Institute of Education and Leadership Development, Inc. is responsible for recruiting students for educational programs. Duties include visiting various sites to promote programs, collecting potential student information, and assisting with registration. The role requires extensive travel, including overnight stays, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English. The position demands strong communication skills, independence, and flexibility in working hours.
SUMMARY
The Outreach Coordinator I is responsible for the recruitment of students in our education programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES includes, but not limited to the following. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Visits various sites to promote our educational programs and to collect names, addresses and phone numbers of potential students.
• Travel to assigned sites, which may include overnight stays as needed, to reach potential students. Will be required to travel outside your assigned region, as needed.
• With permission, visit sites such as churches, stores (supermarket, swap-meets, homes, mobile home parks, etc.) to set up tables/booths and educate the community about the programs.
• Identify where a larger population of Spanish speaking people live, work and visit to create a plan to promote our educational programs.
• Using internal potential student lists, identify which locations/cities students are needed and make calls to potential students to review our educational programs.
• Assist Student Services Coordinators in scheduling potential students to attend orientation.
• Assist students with the registration process.
• Share fliers with students, families, social media, and other sources of advertisement.
• Identify the leader of the work, church, social groups, to communicate and educate them about our programs and have them assist us in recruitment and promotion of our programs.
• Data entry in our systems of all gathered student information.
• Submits required reports in a timely manner, such as mileage logs and time- sheets.
• Extensive driving to various locations and sites as assigned.
• Supports FIELD with outreach and expansion efforts.
• Obtain signatures for petition as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Must know the basic skills of using a computer/laptop, cell/phone/texting, emailing, scanning/photo copy machine, and GPS for directions
• Must be bilingual, and able to speak, read and write in Spanish and English.
• Must be able to work independently and in teams, have time management skills.
• Must be flexible and willing to work hours, as needed, to recruit students. This will include early morning, evenings, overnight stays and/or weekends as needed.
• Must be outgoing and able to speak and share our programs with unknown people.
• Must be professional, courteous and decisive.
• Must be able to learn about our organization, programs (ESL, EPIC and CTE), Cesar Chavez history, and share this information with potential students and others.
• Skills and abilities to avoid conflict.
• Must be able to motivate potential students to join.
• Must be willing to drive your own vehicle daily, with long distances, as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Community outreach experience preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must have valid driver's license and personal automobile insurance.
• Must hold a valid California Driver License for a minimum of 2 years.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to travel as needed/required.
• Daily travel as assigned to various sites and cities.
• Will be required to travel to locations outside your assigned region as needed.
• Some overnight stays will be required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Bilingual in Spanish, required.
• Must be able to speak, read and write in Spanish and English.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Frequent standing and walking.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions of heat and cold, and risk of electrical shock with use of electric equipment. Daily outdoor conditions working in the sun, exposed to heat and cold weather.
