Green Building Alliance is seeking on-call trainers for sustainability courses in Pittsburgh, PA. This contract position involves teaching, curriculum development, and guest speaking. Trainers should have experience in green building and a commitment to inclusivity. Opportunities vary in length and pay structure. Trainers must be located near Western Pennsylvania and may need to attend in-person sessions at GBA's offices. Availability during weekdays is required.
Call for Subject Matter Experts in Sustainability Fields
Contract Position for Instructors & Trainers
Green Building Alliance (GBA) is seeking contracted on-call trainers to assist with
teaching green building curriculum to adult learners. Trainers will teach technical content
in organized courses, and will have varied opportunities to help GBA inspire students from
various backgrounds and professions. We are seeking dynamic teachers who can bring
enthusiasm, inspiration, and subject matter expertise to current and new courses on
behalf of GBA.
OPPORTUNITIES:
Trainers may choose to help in any of the following ways:
Curriculum development or augmentation
Guest speaking at a training
Teaching a course on their own or with another trainer
Currently, trainers are needed to assist with:
GPRO Operations & Maintenance, including GPRO for Schools
LEED Green Associate Exam Prep Course
GBA is working on additional courses and trainings to meet growing and diverse needs
within various professions, which will become available in the near future.
PAYMENT STRUCTURE:
Trainers will be paid on either an hourly basis or at a per project/training rate to be
determined by the specific project/training budget and professional experience and
expertise. GBA values the time of trainers and consultants and considers preparation and
travel time required to perform the training and/or technical assistance. Opportunities
can vary in length from one hour to several full days.
REQUIREMENTS:
Commitment to GBAs vision, mission, and values
Commitment and demonstrated approach to creating an inclusive, equitable,
accessible, and welcoming environment for all learners regardless of age, color,
creed, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status,
national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, military, or veteran status (or any
combination of these or related factors)
Demonstrated teaching or training experience
Demonstrated technical knowledge, subject matter expertise, and project
experience in green building design, construction, or operations
Ability to follow guidelines and best practices outlined by GBA
Openness to continued professional development (like master trainings), some of
which will be covered by GBA but some of which may require investment
Availability to teach during weekdays (our courses typically take place Mondays
Fridays between the hours of 9am and 5pm), as well as potential evenings
TEAM & LOCATION:
Contracted trainers will report to GBAs Vice President of Education & Communications
and/or its Workforce Development Director, and may work with other members of the
GBA team. Trainers should be located within reasonable driving distance to Western
Pennsylvania and may be asked at times to come to GBAs offices on the South Side of
Pittsburgh. Trainings may take place throughout Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

added to our list of trainers. This list of trainers will be listed on GBAs website.
When appropriate, GBA staff will reach out with on-boarding details or training
As needs arise, GBA staff will reach out to on-call trainers (either as a group or
individually) to present new opportunities.
