Protecting New England's Environment

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Attorney to join our Ocean Conservation team. The successful candidate will work with us to protect New England's environment for all people.

Key Responsibilities:
">
">
• Develop and implement effective legal and policy strategies to protect New England's environment;">
• Represent us in litigation and administrative proceedings;">
• Provide expert advice to community and advocacy groups on legal and policy matters;">
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including environmental organizations, ocean users, scientists, public officials, businesses, and others;">
• Stay up-to-date on regulatory developments and comment on administrative rules, state and federal permits, and other state and federal agency actions;">
• Communicate effectively about our advocacy work through public educational materials, articles, opinion pieces, and social media outlets;">
• Lead project teams and supervise and mentor junior advocates and interns;">
• Support our strategic priorities and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and organizational excellence;">
• Collaborate with our Communications team to deliver advocacy news and key messages to the press, our members, and the public;">
• Work closely with our Development team to secure funding for our programs;">
• Analyze complex issues and develop recommendations for addressing them;">
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of our work and activities.">

Requirements:
">
">
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience practicing law and experience in ocean law and policy or other relevant area of law;">
• A passion and commitment to protecting the environment, promoting public health, and advancing social justice;">
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;">
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills;">
• A commitment to working collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues and partners;">
• A law degree and active bar membership in good standing in any state or the District of Columbia (New England state is preferred).">

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and an extensive benefits plan. The starting salary range for the position is $114,000 - $133,000 if based in Boston and $104,000-$120,000 if based in a regional office; actual salary will reflect experience, qualification, and location.
