About the position

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is seeking a full-time Net Zero Grid Fellow for Spring/Summer 2025. The Net Zero Grid team is at the forefront of Massachusetts' energy transition, working on initiatives that are crucial to achieving the Commonwealth's commitment to Net Zero emissions by 2050. This role is significant as it involves transforming the electric grid to meet increasing electricity demand while ensuring safety, reliability, and resiliency. The Fellow will engage with utilities, policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders to identify and implement innovative grid solutions that contribute to a clean and just energy future for all. The initiatives currently underway include exploring how hydrogen fits into the state's decarbonization strategy, supporting communities to withstand outages, funding innovative electric grid technologies, researching cost-effective strategies to meet climate goals, and enhancing the capabilities of hydropower facilities. The Fellow will work closely with Program Managers, Program Administrators, and the Senior Program Director, participating in team meetings, contributing to grant project management, conducting relevant research, and assisting with event coordination. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the energy industry, particularly grid modernization, and to network with key stakeholders in the clean energy sector. The fellowship program includes educational and networking opportunities such as presentations from division heads, Tech Talks, and tours of facilities like the Wind Technology Testing Center. The Fellow will be involved in various tasks including stakeholder outreach, grant administration, event organization, data visualization, and creating reports. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about clean energy and environmental sustainability, providing a platform to contribute meaningfully to MassCEC's initiatives.

Responsibilities
• Work as part of a team on projects related to grid modernization.

• Conduct stakeholder outreach and grant administration.
,
• Organize events and analyze best practices.
,
• Perform research and data visualization tasks.
,
• Create targeted reports and draft memos and letters.
,
• Maintain project timelines and databases for Net Zero Grid programs.
,
• Manage inbound program-related email inquiries.
,
• Create and maintain slide decks for presentations and program-related blog posts.
,
• Assist with Public Records Requests and organize internal events.
,
• Support Program Administrator and Program Managers with project grant management and administration.
,
• Attend program check-in meetings, take notes, and complete follow-up tasks as necessary.
,
• Monitor requests and schedule meetings with external parties.

Requirements
• Availability to work full-time from January to June 2025.

• Demonstrated interest in the clean energy sector.

• Strong writing skills and excellent organizational abilities.

• Proven attention to detail with a proactive approach.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent a government agency discreetly.

Nice-to-haves
• Basic knowledge of energy efficiency and renewables.
