Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Natural Gas Trader or Senior to join our Power Supply team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Natural Gas Trader do for us? Under limited supervision, the Natural Gas Trader conducts natural gas transactions with wholesale customers and suppliers; enters the spot market, day-ahead, balance-of-month, and term transactions; and makes sales or purchases. This role adjusts to hourly changes in load and resource availability not contemplated in pre-scheduled operations and manages gas fueling supply requirements to optimally meet system and pipeline obligations.

The Natural Gas Trader schedules and nominates natural gas, manages storage assets, purchases, and sells pipeline transportation. The position also works closely with the power desks to evaluate markets and manage the operation of the bulk power system by optimizing the resource mix, including Idaho Power owned generation, power supply contracts, and regional wholesale purchases to ensure that power supply obligations are met in the most economical and cost-efficient manner.

This position requires the individual to leverage understanding of the natural gas sector, including pipelines, markets, storage, generation, and regulations; analyze market data and trends; exhibit strong judgement; and demonstrate effective communication to successfully execute transactions for the Company.
