Job Description

International Paper is hiring a Maintenance Journeyman Level 3 in Redwood, MS, offering $44.11/hr for a full-time position. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in mechanical disciplines like millwright, machinist, welding, or pipefitting. Responsibilities include assisting with routine maintenance, installing and repairing machinery, and troubleshooting equipment. The role requires working in industrial conditions, potentially involving overtime, holidays, and safety equipment.

Job Requirements

At least 18 years of age

Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience

Eligible for employment in the US

At least three (3) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING

Must be willing to meet the following requirements:

Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)

Undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands-on assessment of skills

Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment

Undergo an job related health assessment as a condition of employment

Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment

Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule

Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification

Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis

Wear required safety equipment

Include 50lb lifting requirement

It is preferred that candidates have the following skills and/or experience(s):

Associates degree or certification(s) in any of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING

At least five (5) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING

Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.



The Job You Will Perform:

This position will assist journeymen-level mechanical maintenance technicians in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently. Our world class Global Manufacturing Training program provides paid hands-on experiences and classroom instruction in order to prepare you for your next promotion

Duties include, but are not limited to:



Millwright

Install machine and equipment according to lay-out plan, blue prints and other drawings

Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, dial indicators and laser alignment equipment

Install machinery; new and existing equipment

Repair and lubricate machine and equipment

Refurbish/maintain valves, pumps, gear boxes, bearings, agitators, conveyors, turbines, paper machines, lime kiln

Measure for bearing clearance and shaft diameters

Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues

Fabricate structural materials as needed

Other duties as assigned



Machinist:

Fit and assemble part to fabricate or repair to maintain industrial machines

Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction

Understanding blueprints and field drawings and machine parts

Utilize machine measuring equipment

Repair, reproduce or rebuild various parts

Understand different materials and their machining properties

Fabricate machine parts

Perform aligning of machines and field machining

Operate cranes, tow motors and forklifts

Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues

Other duties as assigned



Welding:

Read and interpret welding blueprints, selecting the appropriate welding processes and materials, operating welding equipment safely

Perform various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick Welding), ensuring proper joint preparation, and maintain weld quality and integrity

Perform field measurements and installations as needed

Assemble and install pipes, and valves according to lay-out plan, blue prints and other drawings

Operate overhead cranes, tow motors and fork lifts

Fabricate structural materials and pipes as needed

Other duties as assigned



Pipefitter:

Read and interpret blueprints and drawings

Perform welding or brazing as needed

Perform field measurements and installations as needed

Assemble and install pipes, and valves according to lay-out plan, blue prints and other drawings

Fabricate structural materials and pipes as needed

Conduct pressure testing to ensure integrity

Understand specifications and regulations related to plumbing and piping system

Other duties as assigned
