Job Description

Humana Inc. is seeking a Learning Design Manager in Green Bay, WI. This role involves applying instructional design and adult learning theories to address knowledge gaps, analyzing and organizing content, and developing training materials. The manager will lead a team of Instructional Designers, collaborate across departments, and assess training effectiveness. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, 6+ years of technical experience, and 2+ years in leadership, preferably in a consumer-centric or healthcare setting. A Master's degree is preferred.
DescriptionThe Manager, Learning Design uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Manager, Learning Design works within specific guidelines and procedures; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems; receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines approach, resources, schedules and goals.ResponsibilitiesThe Manager, Learning Design analyzes content, organizes content, designs solutions, and writes storyboards, scripts, performance support, mobile learning and manuals. Analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content. Writes effective learning objectives and coordinates performance assessments to measure training effectiveness. Ensures course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Tracks and analyzes the training programs effectiveness by examining learner's satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance improvement. Provides instruction and guidance to the Instructional Designers and Facilitators. Knows how to use social media and collaborative tools to facilitate learning. Plans, organizes, and develops training curriculum, materials, job performance aids and programs to meet specific training needs. Uses consultative skills to commit projects and conduct needs analysis with clients to determine whether learning solutions are necessary or relevant. Decisions are typically related to resources, approach, and tactical operations for projects and initiatives involving own departmental area. Requires cross departmental collaboration, and conducts briefings and area meetings; maintains frequent contact with other managers across the department. Manages team of Instructional Designers, providing coaching, developing, task assignments and overall administrative functions of a Manager.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree6 or more years of technical experience2 or more years of people leadership experience responsible for coaching and developing teamsPrior experience working in a consumer-centric company leading the learning function or related functionPrior demonstrated capability leading teams and developing and maintaining a dynamic and high-performing team culture.Progressive business and financial analytics experience with a focus on learning strategies and adult learning theoriesMust be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiencesPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Learning and Performance; Education; Human Resources, Organizational Design or Related field.Work experience in a health care and / or Insurance settingHealth Insurance license (or able to obtain one within the first 90 days in the role)Additional InformationWhy Humana?At Humana, we know your well-being is important to you, and it's important to us too.
