Homeworks Energy is seeking a Lead Energy Technician in Derby, CT, for a full-time role focused on enhancing homeowners' energy efficiency. Responsibilities include conducting energy assessments, utilizing software for modeling, diagnosing energy issues, recommending solutions, and providing customer service. The position involves fieldwork in various environments and requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and strong organizational skills. Supervisory responsibilities include mentoring an assistant technician.
Lead Energy Technician
Position Type: Full-time, hourly position
Job Summary:
The Lead Energy Technician is responsible for helping homeowners become more energy efficient by performing Energize CT Energy Assessments. This role will be modeling homes in energy efficiency software, diagnosing energy usage problems and recommending energy saving measures such as insulation, windows, and high efficiency heating and cooling.

• Energy Assessment
• Conduct an Energize CT home energy assessment.
• Utilize energy efficiency software to model homes and generate comprehensive energy savings reports.
• Test homes with diagnostic equipment such as Blower Doors, Duct Blasters, Trueflow, and Combustion safety tests
• Recommend energy-saving measures such as insulation, windows, and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
• Sales and Customer Service
• Confirm the customer’s interests in add-on measures.
• Provide exceptional customer service and educate homeowners on energy efficiency benefits.
• Use effective sales techniques to ensure customer satisfaction and generate referrals.
• Organize and guide customer through paperwork processes.
• Installation and Documentation
• Install low flow water fixtures, pipe wrap insulation where applicable.
• Manually seal leaky ductwork.
• Assist with blower door guided air sealing when possible.
• Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Professional Development and Collaboration:
• Continually improve product knowledge and sales skills through ongoing learning, including staying informed on the latest energy-saving options and technologies.
• Collaborate with internal divisions to cross-sell products and services.
• Mentor and supervise your assistant technician.
• Perform additional tasks as required
Education & Experience:
• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Lead Tech certified (a plus but not required)
• Previous residential construction or labor skill a plus
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organization and time management skills.
• Must work independently as the role is primarily field based.
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
• Outgoing, flexible, and personable demeanor.
• Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This is a supervisory role that may include overseeing the work performed by an assistant technician.
Work Environment:
Customer settings: This position is based in customer settings and will require work in and out of doors, including in attics, basements, small-confined spaces, and rooftops.
Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces. The employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds, and must be able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.
• This job will require travel in a personal or company-provided vehicle.
