Job Description

FTC Solar is seeking a Lead Certification Engineer for PV Modules & Solar Trackers in Bengaluru, India. The role involves ensuring certification, performance validation, and compliance of PV modules and trackers, coordinating with labs, and collaborating with engineering teams. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 5+ years of experience in certification or quality assurance in renewable energy. This is a full-time position.
Job Overview :

As a Lead Engineer in the PV Module & Tracker Certification role, you will be responsible for ensuring the certification, performance validation, and compliance of photovoltaic (PV) modules and tracker systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional team to verify that PV modules and trackers meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal specifications. This role will also help contribute to the improvement of the certification processes by identifying inefficiencies, recommending enhancements and keep up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in the solar energy and renewable energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
• PV Module Certification:
• Conduct performance testing and certification for PV modules to ensure they comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 61215, UL 2703).
• Coordinate with third party lab to perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing to assess the reliability and efficiency of PV modules.
• Document and track module test results, issues, and resolutions, ensuring that all certification activities are properly recorded.
• Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to address any defects or performance discrepancies during certification processes.
• Provide certification updates and present findings to stakeholders.
• Tracker Systems Certification:
• Oversee the certification process for tracker systems, including performance validation, safety, and regulatory compliance (e.g., UL2703, UL 3703).
• Coordinate with third party lab to perform tests on tracker systems for functionality, durability, and environmental resistance under different conditions.
• Maintain and update tracker test records and provide progress updates to senior leadership.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain certification reports with latest product technical information.
• Create certification packages and support the submission process for external third-party certification bodies.
• Provide regular progress reports on certification activities, identifying any potential delays or risks.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in the certification of PV modules and tracker systems, or in quality assurance/testing within the renewable energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of UL certification standards and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
