Job Description

The Lead, Sustainability at Spire in Kansas City, MO, is responsible for managing and implementing sustainability data and strategy, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions tracking and reporting. About the position

The Sustainability Lead at Spire will serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for building, managing, and implementing the company's sustainability data and strategy. This role focuses on collecting and evaluating data related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across all business operations, providing expertise to leadership for emissions reduction opportunities, and managing GHG inventory reporting to meet various standards and requirements.

Responsibilities
• Collect and evaluate data for measurement, tracking, and reporting of GHG emissions from all Spire business operations.

• Model, quantify, and forecast emissions, ensuring validation and verification according to recognized standards.
,
• Provide expertise to leadership to identify opportunities for emissions reductions and assist in implementing mitigation strategies.
,
• Measure and report emissions reductions, supporting business units in their implementation efforts.
,
• Identify and develop opportunities for offsetting emissions from operations.
,
• Establish and administer processes for Corporate Greenhouse Gas Inventory to meet internal and external audit requirements.
,
• Manage GHG inventory reporting for management, board, sustainability reports, and other regulatory requirements.
,
• Work with leadership to develop data tracking and reporting mechanisms for current and new reporting streams.
,
• Administer carbon credits for all business units, coordinating activities with carbon credit vendors.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree preferred.
,
• 3-5 years of experience in developing and preparing corporate reporting of emissions and/or offsets.
,
• 10+ years of progressive experience, ideally in utility operations, engineering, and/or compliance management or reporting.
,
• Experience in environmental science, emissions tracking, analysis, and reporting, and/or implementation of environmental/renewable measures preferred.
