UCT is looking for a talented Janitor Technician to join us in Hayward, CA! This employee plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of our building and surrounding areas. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to perform various cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks. The role also involves inventory management, compliance with policies, and effective communication with supervisors and team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Facility Cleaning and Organization:
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all areas within the facility, including rooms, common areas, and surrounding outdoor spaces.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing bathrooms, sinks, countertops, and refrigerators.
• Dust surfaces and clean interior windows and windowsills as needed.
• Room Turnover and Maintenance:
• Clean and prepare rooms for new occupants after client departures.
• Wash, change, and replace linens to maintain high hygiene standards.
• Shampoo carpets in vacant rooms and perform basic repairs to prevent damage and prolong room lifespan.
• Inventory and Reporting:
• Conduct regular inventory checks of room supplies, including mattress covers, pillows, and sheets.
• Notify the facility manager of any required replacements or repairs.
• Waste Management and Recycling:
• Empty trash cans, replace liners, and clean receptacles.
• Sort recyclables, cardboard, and compost from general trash and report any contaminated streams to the lead or supervisor.
• Use of Equipment and Chemicals:
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as street sweepers, push and ride-on floor scrubbers, and 20-yard compactors.
• Use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively on various surfaces, adhering to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Follow all organizational policies and procedures, including sustainability initiatives and CalOSHA safety regulations.
• Complete maintenance equipment checklists prior to operating machinery and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Additional Duties:
• Execute assigned tasks efficiently within the allotted time frame.
• Report neglected cleaning tasks or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly.
• Ensure all work areas are left clean, organized, and in satisfactory condition.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.
• Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and chemicals is an advantage.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as pushing and pulling full 3-yard containers over uneven surfaces.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to report issues and updates to supervisors.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
• The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, often in varied weather conditions.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy items.
• Adherence to safety protocols is required at all times.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $17.36 and $25.00 hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
