Within the Climate Finance sector, responsAbilitys flagship product is the Global Climate Partnership Fund (GCPF, www.gcpf.lu). The GCPFs main objective is to enable financial institutions (FIs) in emerging markets to. address the growing demand for renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) lending. To achieve this objective, the GCPF provides FIs with long-term debt capital and tailored capacity-building. Regardless of an FIs client (corporate, SME or micro) and/or market segment (agriculture, commerce, manufacturing, transport, etc.), responsAbility works with its GCPF partner FIs to develop green lending capabilities and mitigate climate change.

As an Investment Officer in the FI Investments, Climate Finance team, you would join the team leading the development and management of the GCPF FI portfolio. The role entails close interaction with existing and prospective partner FIs, external Investment and TA Committees, as well as several internal responsAbility team members, including Financial Inclusion Debt Officers, Climate Advisory Specialists, and Technical Assistance Officers. Therefore, in addition to an enthusiastic and client-friendly nature, the position requires someone capable of coordinating priorities and deliverables across several departments. Investment Officer Climate Finance, Financial Institutions in Mumbai
This role is designed for a professional who can easily connect with internal and external stakeholders and who operates comfortably in a dynamic, international environment.
Your Main Tasks
Build and manage relationships with financial institutions (FIs) across the Asia Pacific region, working closely with the regional teams (the role requires occasional travel across countries in the APAC region, as well as rAs headquarters in Zurich).
Lead the due diligence process from end-to-end, including origination, assessment (including on-site due diligence), execution and periodic monitoring of investments in financial institutions across Asia Pacific. This will require managing the coordination across various internal stakeholders.
In parallel to the credit due diligence, assess the market potential for renewable energy (RE), energy efficiency (EE) and adaptation lending, including evaluation of commercial & regulatory drivers supporting an FIs green lending potential.
Persuade FIs to develop green lending strategies in line with the market potential identified, working closely with rAs in-house Climate Advisory Specialists and Technical Assistance Team.
Lead the drafting of Investment Proposals (IPs) for the GCPF Investment Committee and Board of Directors that outline the FIs identified financial and green strengths and weaknesses, with an emphasis on the additionality of GCPFs investment.
Liaise with the various internal responsAbility teams collaborating on a GCPF FI transaction, supporting their needs throughout the investment process from due diligence to disbursement and monitoring.
Monitor trends in the financial and clean energy sectors and develop relevant, concise and thoughtful summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Perform regular financial monitoring of outstanding transactions, investees, and risk-relevant market and sector developments.
Your Experience And Skills
Masters degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field from a top institution.
At least five years of experience in an investment or consulting firm covering the financial sector, or financial/investment experience in the renewable energy or energy efficiency space.
Experience with credit analysis of financial institutions, including preparation and management of large financial data sets as well as relevant qualitative analysis.
Very strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with culturally diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Reliable, positive, self-driven personality with strong intercultural skills.
Excellent oral and written presentation skills in English, as well as competence in the use of presentational and quantitative tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel at short notice.
Enthusiasm for impact investments, especially Climate Finance, as well as a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in emerging markets.
Experience with investments outside of India would be a plus,
