Intermediate Environmental Scientist / Technologist / Engineer

The Liability Management & Restoration (LM&R) service line is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist / Technologist / Engineer.

This position will be based in the Edmonton Alberta and contribute to the continued growth and success of the LM&R service line. The successful candidate will support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination, environmental monitoring, water and soil sampling of remediation and decommissioning sites.

Overall Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities 
• Perform 60% various types of fieldwork including but not limited to surface water/groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, drilling, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation.
• Lead field programs and all aspects of project execution.  Perform tasks as requested efficiently and accurately, using standard methods and techniques. 
• Preparation of workplans and cost estimates. 
• Lead environmental investigations including drilling, test pitting, logging, sampling, and monitoring well installations.  
• Lead remediation programs including planning, subcontractor management and execution. 
• Lead groundwater and surface water monitoring. 
• On-site safety supervision and associated documentation. 
• Tracking and reporting on field activity. 
• Coordinating the procurement of project supplies and contractor services. 
• Supervision of contractors on site. 
• Train and mentor junior staff. 

Qualifications
• University Degree or Technical Diploma from accredited institution, plus appropriate continuing education.
• 3-7 years of practical experience, including field work.
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team setting.
• Class 5 driver’s license.
• Relevant experience in Alberta and Alberta regulations is an asset.
• Experience in either the oil and gas industry or mining is considered an asset.
• Ability to work challenging and potentially extended hours under varying weather conditions.
• Working toward professional registration or certification or recently certified.
