Job Description
Acino is seeking a Head of Environmental Sustainability in Dubai, UAE. This strategic role involves leading the Environmental Sustainability Program, executing decarbonization strategies, and fostering a sustainability culture across the organization. Responsibilities include governance, reporting, managing teams, and ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations. The position requires strong leadership and collaboration with senior management to achieve environmental objectives aligned with industry standards.
The Head of Environmental Sustainability will lead, shape and execute the Environmental Sustainability Program across all divisions of Arcera based on the highest pharma industry standards. This strategic leader will drive the execution of Arcera’s decarbonization strategy designed to reach the net neutrality goals. Reporting to the Chief Compliance and Sustainability Officer, this role will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams with a focus on continuous improvement of environmental sustainability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Environmental Sustainability Governance and Leadership:
• Manage strategic execution of the global strategy for Arcera’s Environmental Sustainability program, including setting mid-and long-term objectives.
• Define and lead initiatives to foster and develop a sustainability culture and mindset throughout Arcera.
• Build strong partnerships with key functional leaders and leadership teams to support environmental sustainability initiatives.
• Actively participate as a member of the leadership team of the TechOps division.
• Contribute to internal and external communication initiatives on topics of environmental sustainability, in coordination with the Chief Compliance and Sustainability Officer.
• Manage the coverage of environmental sustainability topics and the consolidation of environmental sustainability data for the annual Sustainability Report.
• Manage the regular reporting on Environmental Sustainability matters to the company’s leadership team and the Arcera Sustainability Council, and periodic reporting to the Board or a designated committee.
• Manage expectations of, and reporting to, the Shareholder in respect of Environmental Sustainability, including accurate, consolidated reporting on scorecards.
• Manage and lead the Sustainability Ambassador Network to implement environmental initiatives.
• Stay abreast of developments in regulatory frameworks in the areas of sustainability; ensure readiness Arcera to meet developing requirements in respect of environmental sustainability.
2. Management of Environmental Sustainability Function and Cross-Functional Initiatives
• Actively lead and manage the Environmental Sustainability teams throughout Arcera; support team members in defining and driving their objectives; assist in identifying training or other development opportunities for team.
• Manage accurate, efficient and transparent reporting on Environmental Sustainability topics, metrics and key performance indicators throughout Arcera and across all divisions.
• Manage the progression of the company’s environmental sustainability objectives and initiatives, including the roll-out of the company’s decarbonization strategy, development and implementation of science-based targets, improvements in waste management and development of circular economy principles, progression of energy efficiency and green energy initiatives, the management of Scope 3 emissions data collection, third party ESG due diligence and vendor management in the areas of environmental sustainability.

• Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental risks.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Proficiency in tracking metrics, analyzing data, and reporting on performance to stakeholders.
• Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior management, and drive organizational change towards a strong culture of compliance.
• Innovation and Problem-Solving: Creative thinking to develop innovative solutions and continuously improve practices.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey initiatives and progress to diverse audiences.
Qualifications & Experience:
• University degree in engineering, EHS, Environmental Science, or similar educational level.
• Professional training in Sustainability preferred.
• Minimum 6 years Environmental Sustainability experience, preferably in Pharma.
• Proven track record of successfully leading a team/function; solid line management experience.
• Languages: English, other languages are a plus
