Job Description
The City of Calgary is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to design and maintain Low Impact Development (LID) and Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) techniques. Responsibilities include advanced modeling, performance assessment, and developing hybrid stormwater solutions. Candidates must have a relevant engineering degree, at least 10 years of experience, and a Professional Engineer designation. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of $162,616 per annum.
Responsibilities
The Senior Stormwater Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining various Low Impact Development (LID) and Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) techniques to mitigate the adverse effects of stormwater. Key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting advanced modeling software and tools analysis to predict the performance of green infrastructure elements and optimize designs for different environmental scenarios.
• Providing expertise on stormwater infrastructure's performance assessment; conducting technical analyses, including hydrological and hydraulic modeling, to inform decision-making and design processes.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining LID and GSI techniques; assessing environmental conditions and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Developing hybrid stormwater management solutions that seamlessly integrate green and grey infrastructure components; optimizing hybrid designs for maximum efficiency and sustainability.
• Collaborating and building effective relationships with various watershed partnerships, non-government organizations, and Alberta Low Impact Development Partnership to advance stormwater management.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have a degree in Civil, Water Resources, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field encompassing water resources, water quality, waste management, or environmental functions. A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience is required, obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Working Conditions:
This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. A valid driver's license is not required for this role.
Salary:
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $162,616 per annum, paid bi-weekly.
