About The Role

A Graduate in Environmental Health will gain real world, on the job experience whilst being surrounded by industry professionals from the Environmental Health & Regulation field. Our two-year program provides you the freedom and autonomy to work individually, supported by industry professionals, to deliver innovative and challenging projects. You will undertake investigations relative to state and local laws with a focus on public health, environmental protection, and environmental health. This will include but not limited to public health investigations, asbestos investigations, water pollution and high-risk nuisances such as odour, light and noise. A key component of the role is conducting routine inspections of regulated businesses (food, environmentally relevant activities, high risk personal service.) and ensure compliance and/or enforcement actions occur. You will lead and/or partake in proactive work with the community, partners and stakeholders to educate and provide advice on compliance with local and state laws (i.e., community events, aged homes, real estate agents, schools, clubs).This position has clear expectations to role model the performance standards, values, behaviours, and attitudes that are integral to our workplace culture and stakeholder reputation as an organisation of excellence.

During the two-year graduate program, this position will contribute to the delivery of both project and business as usual activities. This position will work towards improving community and business outcomes, while being fully supported in career development and personal growth. You will Actively participate in the Graduate professional development program activities including workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions.

About You

Our ideal applicant will work methodically and accurately, have good oral and written communication skills, and follow instructions precisely and have a strong client focus and a genuine desire to assist. You must be able to work individually and as part of a team whilst taking pride in quality of your work and following health and safety workplace requirements and upholding Council values.

Have sound level of knowledge and understanding of environmental health legislation including the Public Health Act, Environmental Protection Act, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearances), Food Act, Local Government Act, Planning Act, Residential Services (Accreditation) Act, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act, State Penalties Enforcement Act, and other acts relevant to the role.
