The Climate Action Campaign is hiring a Government Affairs Program Manager for Administrative Advocacy in Washington, D.C. This full-time role requires 3-4 years of advocacy experience and focuses on coordinating with stakeholders, including the Biden Administration, to advance climate policy goals. Responsibilities include developing advocacy strategies, maintaining relationships, tracking policy developments, and supporting the government affairs team in planning and communication.
About the position

The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) is seeking a Government Affairs Program Manager for Administrative Advocacy to join our dynamic team. This full-time position is based in Washington, D.C., and requires a self-starter with 3-4 years of experience in advocacy or political campaigns. The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate with various stakeholders, including Government Affairs professionals at CAC, senior leadership within our coalition, and officials from the Biden Administration, to support and advance the coalition's climate policy goals. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in engaging with the Biden administration to pursue opportunities for strong administrative rules and executive actions aimed at achieving President Biden's ambitious climate goals, specifically the target of halving climate emissions by the end of the decade. In this position, you will utilize your project management and collaboration skills to develop strategies and execute advocacy tactics. You will be responsible for gathering and sharing information, maintaining clear communication lines, and supporting the government affairs team in planning, reporting, and scheduling. Your role will also involve coordinating across various departments within the Climate Action Campaign to ensure cohesive efforts in advocacy and administrative communications. The position entails maintaining and building external relationships with coalition members, partners, and allies, as well as with members of the administration. You will be expected to communicate CAC's administrative agenda effectively and identify opportunities to enhance and streamline advocacy work on key policies. Additionally, you will assist in tracking developments and policies from the Biden administration related to clean air and climate, contributing to the coalition's goal-setting for the future.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate with Government Affairs professionals at CAC and the Biden Administration to support climate policy goals.

• Maintain and build external relationships with coalition members, partners, and administration officials.
,
• Develop strategies and execute coalition advocacy tactics to advance regulatory agendas.
,
• Gather and share information, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
,
• Assist in planning, reporting, and scheduling for the government affairs team.
,
• Track developments and policies from the Biden administration related to clean air and climate.
,
• Support the Deputy Director of Government Affairs in setting agendas for meetings of the administrative strategy group.
,
• Draft strategy memos, talking points, and advocacy letters as needed.
,
• Contribute to annual and quarterly planning and goal-setting for administrative activities.
,
• Manage internal administrative tracking and summarize major policies.

Requirements
• 3-4 years of experience working on advocacy or political campaigns, on Capitol Hill, or with an advocacy or nonprofit organization.

• Strong communication, writing, and project management skills.
,
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with federal agency officials and staff, Members of Congress, and coalition partners.

• Familiarity with climate policy and policymaking at the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• High degree of professionalism and cultural competency in dealing with diverse groups of people.

• Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic environment to meet deadlines with attention to detail.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and database/spreadsheet functions.
