Intertek's Pittsburgh Lab (Building and Construction is primarily focused on lab testing of fenestration products and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for?

As a Lab/Field Testing Technician, you will assist with field testing and product testing in our air/water/structural testing lab. This position provides opportunity for growth and development within the department and company. This job requires travel only some weeks when field testing is required outside of Pittsburgh. A shared company vehicle is provided for work travel and expenses are all covered by the company including per diem for overnight travel.

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday with travel some weeks

What you'll do:
• Lab Testing in our facility and Field testing projects as assigned
• Testing per AAMA and ASTM standards
• Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters (data collection and submission)
• Provide assistance to the lead technician as dictated by the project/product
• Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 6+ months commercial construction and/or commercial or residential carpentry experience
• Experience working with elevated working platforms (ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc)
• Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
• Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems or the ability to learn and comprehend these standards
• Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects
• Technical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers, both in writing and orally
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
• Good computer skills - Microsoft Office & Outlook
• Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as needed
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time or more
• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
• Associate degree in a technical field preferred
