Job Description
The Student Conservation Association is hiring a Field Leader for the Atlanta National Parks Crew, responsible for guiding a team of youth in conservation projects from May 18 to July 31, 2026. Duties include supervising, training, and managing logistics related to environmental education and project completion. Candidates should be experienced in working with youth, capable of physical labor, and hold valid certifications. This position is based in College Park, GA.
Position Summary
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As Crew Leader, you will be working with a co-lead to guide and inspire a team of ten high school-aged youth (14 –19) from the metro Atlanta, GA area. The crew will be working on projects such as invasive species removal, habitat restoration, litter abatement, and trail work in various sites throughout local National Park Service sites. Leaders will be responsible for incorporating and planning environmental education curriculum. Project monitoring and data collection will also be required throughout the season.
Marginal Duties
• Act as a Crew Supervisor, by facilitating teamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics
• Serve as an Advisor, by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship
• Act as a Project Manager, by communicating with agency park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion of work projects, and upholding a positive representation of SCA
• Perform tasks as a Program Administrator, by organizing logistics, completing documentation, managing a budget, completing end of the season report, and communicating with SCA staff
Required Qualifications
• Experience working with youth or young adults, teaching, or environmental education a plus
• Willingness to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more
• First aid and CPR certification
• Attend Crew Leader training: [05/18/26 to 05/29/26]
• 21+ years of age
• US Work Authorization
• Valid driver’s license for 3+ years and MVR that meets SCA standards
• Must be available for all days of work 06/01/26-07/31/26
Preferred Qualifications
• Equipped to work independently and as a team.
• Experience working with youth of all ages.
• Local to the Atlanta, GA area.
• Experience with conservation work skills or related skills – i.e., trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening
Hours
40 per week
Living Accommodations
Living accommodations are not provided as part of this program.
Compensation
• $850.00 weekly salary, 1700.00 biweekly before taxes.
• Each Crew leader is given a van to transport crew members and to travel to the work site each day
• Each Crew leader is give credit card for program expenses and gas for van.
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
