Facility Assessor/Sustainability Staff
Date: 03/03/2025

About the Firm

HUSARCH collaborates with the communities we serve to develop actionable solutions that improve the sustainability of the built environment. Our work spans Sustainability, Assessment, and Architecture. We help make buildings more sustainable through assessing energy efficiency, building enclosures, and accessibility. We are a small architecture firm in Pilsen, founded in 2010. We work to make an impact on Chicago and our targeted markets through improvements to public agency, multi-family housing, and energy efficiency.

About the Position

We are looking for a full-time Facility Assessor/Sustainability Staff member to join our team.

Assessments and reporting is at the heart of what we do. When analyzing buildings up-close, we can identify occupant needs and advocate for those needs by providing justification for improvements that need to be made. Our variety of services all tie back to sustainable solutions as we integrate energy efficiency into our assessments, building design, and architectural consulting.

Facility Assessors evaluate various aspects of an existing building from general property conditions to overall building accessibility. Assessors are provided the tools and training to be able to review a project site and notate issues according to code and client standards. These assessments are then used to inform building repairs. Assessors are responsible for coordinating the site visits, arriving at site promptly, and submitting report documentation in a timely manner. While much time is spent in the field, a portion of the work involves clearly organizing and formatting the data and reports.

Facility Assessors can have irregular schedules. During time in-between assessment assignments, we foster skills in sustainability by dedicating a portion of this role to Sustainability Staff responsibilities. The Sustainability Staff role supports our technical team on research and product development for sustainability certification projects, energy modeling, and envelope quality control. It can involve computer work and occasional field work to document energy efficiency measures as installed on active construction sites.

The Facility Assessor/Sustainability Staff role is for you if you have a passion for helping to make the community a better place for everyone, enjoy using your communication skills to ensure understanding and share ideas, and like to take the lead while effectively collaborating with clients and team members.

• Compile reports that maintain consistent measurements with accurate use of our tools.
• Print plans and reports.
• Complete self-reviews of work quality.
• Follow established schedules, and communicate promptly when there are issues with schedules for on-site assessments
