External Affairs Policy Manager

**Here's what you'll be doing:** The E.ON Industrial and Commercial (I&C) Pillar combines the current nPower, nBS, E.ON B2B businesses to create a new 8 billion revenue business serving approximately 60,000 customers and around 300,000 meter points with a view to becoming the number one B2B energy supplier in the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for an External Affairs Policy Manager to join our Regulation Policy Compliance and External Affairs Management team. For this role, you will be responsible for the I&C external policy and affairs landscape, establishing with stakeholders the strategic direction and roadmap for I&C, its partners, and customers. This role offers a hybrid working approach where you will be working in the office Solihull or Leeds 1-2 days per week.

**Key responsibilities:**

  • Providing a platform for influencing and lobbying the external policy landscape and promoting positively the brand and reputation of I&C as a recognized and trusted voice of industry and consumers.
  • Identifying areas of policy risk and how to mitigate through active influencing and lobbying, exploring and developing opportunities to add value for I&C, E.ON, our partners, and customers.
  • Establishing relationships on behalf of I&C with counterparts across E.ON UK, collaboratively initiating and developing overall E.ON influencing strategy and policy with government and regulators either as a contributor or as the lead accountable owner.
  • Creating and owning a Policy External Affairs framework and roadmap within I&C, engaging with colleagues and senior leaders individually and as a collective to invest appropriate resources, time, and effort to manage the external landscape meeting obligations facilitated in part by owning the I&C monthly policy forum with cross I&C business and wider E.ON involvement.
  • Providing expert policy guidance and advice with key business owners and customers.
  • Work closely with I&C Strategy and Marketing teams to leverage the I&C brand and its key messages, adopting and using various media channels to promote the voice of the customer and business ensuring all content and campaigns remain connected.

**What we need from you:**

  • Exceptional communication skills to represent the I&C business internally and externally with senior industry stakeholders and participants.
  • Professional stakeholder management capability internally and externally identifying opportunities to further develop the policy landscape positively for I&C, its customers, and partners.
  • Detailed knowledge of the policy landscape, regulatory licenses, and industry frameworks, codes, agreements, and obligations by which the energy industry is governed and operates.
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing perspectives and priorities.
