WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU

This role will focus on the safe and efficient movement of ethanol to transportation vehicles at our Nevada, Iowa plant. This includes product sampling, the internal and external inspection of tanks, the operation and positioning of railcars and documentation of transportation records for compliance. The Ethanol Day Loader will report directly into the Production Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED or related experience/training

Equipment operation including railcar movement

Self-starter with good attendance and work ethic

Ability to problem solve with an attention to detail

Material handling, forklift or skid loader operation

Responsibilities

Takes samples of product from trucks and railcars and seals such following completion of lab analysis, and loading to ensure correct content, volume, temperature and weights

Performs duties in a safe manner utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements, including DOT hazardous shipping requirements

Properly record, close, tighten and seal trucks and railcars loaded with ethanol and corn oil after loading and inspection. Verifies 100% securement of shipments.

Opens and seals hatches and unloading doors, cleaning and installing proper gaskets

Communicates with co-workers in person and using two-way radios or similar equipment

Inspects interior of tanks for cleanliness and exterior for leaks or damage

Monitors processes to ensure the efficient transfer of product to transportation vehicles

Verify tank numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars by crew

Complete inspection reports after checking trucks and railcars

Operates a rail locomotive, positioning cars in appropriate sequences to receive product

Cleans up spills in area

Completes related records of product transferred, ensuring the accuracy of such records and inputs related data into computer

Performs preventive maintenance duties on department equipment or notifies department supervisor of needed repairs

Inspects rupture disc, vacuum relief valve, rubber gaskets on valves and cover plates, and replace defective parts

Works in teams to coordinate tasks to efficiently and accurately load products into rail cars or trucks

Operates skid loaders, forklift trucks, shuttle wagon, locomotive and related equipment

Cleans and operate switch tracks in rail yards to move railcars

Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner

Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by attending staff meetings and discussing ideas with co-workers and management

Communicate by using approved hand signals and two-way radios

ABOUT US

The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.

RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company’s facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
