Job Description
Alchemy-GTS is hiring an Environmental Specialist in Newark, NJ, responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental standards, conducting assessments, and promoting sustainability initiatives. Key tasks include performing audits, developing policies, monitoring environmental data, managing reporting, and engaging with regulatory agencies. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience in environmental compliance or sustainability.
Alchemy Global Talent Solutions is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Specialist to join our client's team.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental standards, conducting assessments, and driving sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact. Your expertise will help guide the company in maintaining high environmental standards and promoting long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform environmental audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, NEPA).
• Develop and implement policies and programs for environmental management, focusing on air quality, water use, waste disposal, and hazardous material handling.
• Monitor and evaluate environmental data, identify potential risks, and provide actionable recommendations for reducing environmental impact.
• Assist in the permitting process for environmental compliance and manage reporting duties as required by relevant authorities.
• Promote sustainability efforts, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and carbon footprint reduction.
• Investigate incidents, spills, and compliance violations, providing guidance and solutions for remediation.
• Stay informed of changing environmental regulations and advise internal teams on compliance requirements.
• Create and deliver training sessions, presentations, and reports on best environmental practices and compliance procedures.
• Engage with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, and community groups to support environmental advocacy.
• Provide expertise on the integration of sustainable practices across diverse projects.
• Lead environmental risk management efforts, ensuring mitigation strategies are effectively implemented.
• Advocate for environmental responsibility and support a culture of sustainability within the company.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. environmental laws and regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
• Experience in environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in data analysis and environmental reporting tools.
• Certifications such as Certified Environmental Specialist (CES), Environmental Professional (EP), or HAZWOPER certification are preferred.
