Maryland Environmental Service is hiring an Environmental Specialist Trainee/Environmental Specialist in Crownsville, MD. The role involves lab coordination, sample receiving, compliance report review, and occasional field and sampling work. About the position

Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for an Environmental Specialist Trainee/ Environmental Specialist to join the Technical and Environmental Services Group at our Headquarters located in Millersville, MD. Responsibilities include lab coordination, sample receiving, compliance report review, and occasional sampling. The position consists primarily of office work. There will be occasional field work and this requires the ability to perform confined space entry and lift 50 pounds.

Requirements
• Minimum education requirements for each position include a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university plus:
• Environmental Specialist Trainee: No additional experience is required.
• Environmental Specialist: One year of experience in chemistry, environmental science, regulations, or compliance.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• MES does not participate in programs that require sponsorship for work visas.

Nice-to-haves
• ability to multitask under time sensitive deadlines
• proficient understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
• understanding of chemical analysis process and units
• experience with environmental compliance
• working within a dynamic, high demand environment
