Description

The Environmental Studies Section Manager is responsible for providing leadership and managerial direction to the section within a global practice or regional office. This role emphasizes the development of high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a positive and inclusive work culture aligned with Burns & McDonnell's values and mission.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire the section team to achieve their full potential. Foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment that encourages professional growth and innovation.
• Direct and coordinate team assignments, ensuring efficient utilization of staff and adherence to cost-effective practices.
• Drive the profitable growth of the section by aligning staff levels, assignments, and workloads to project requirements while meeting billable goals.
• Implement and support organizational initiatives while guiding the section through change processes effectively and with clear communication.
• Recruit, develop, train, and retain top talent. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth and success.
• Actively collaborate with business development managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to secure new opportunities and deliver successful outcomes.
• Monitor and manage the section's budget, ensuring financial performance targets are met. Prepare and present workload and financial reports to leadership.
• Interpret and communicate organizational policies and goals to the team, ensuring adherence to company standards, safety policies, and QA/QC processes.
• Promote diversity initiatives and cultivate an inclusive workplace that values different perspectives and fosters belonging.
• Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
• Provide expert-level technical guidance and support as needed.
• Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance and manage expenditures effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years of related professional experience in design and/or project management required.
• Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.
• Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
• Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
• Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
• Must be an expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation

$90,000.00-250,000.00 Annually

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
