Job Overview

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an environmentally conscious and skilled professional to join our team as an Assistant Environmental Scientist. This role involves conducting comprehensive environmental studies, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related field and have prior experience in natural science fieldwork. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this position, as well as excellent communication abilities. The selected individual will work closely with our team to develop and implement effective solutions for environmental impact projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough environmental site investigations, including surveys, assessments, and data collection.
• Prepare technical reports, environmental impact statements, and field studies to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Utilize GIS data to create accurate maps according to industry standards.
• Support erosion control efforts, subsurface soil sampling, and other environmental initiatives.
• Perform environmental compliance audits and prepare permitting applications to minimize risks.
• Collaborate with the team to support site selection studies and NEPA documentation.
• Maintain company and site safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Required Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program.
• Prior internship or natural science field experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex information verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with environmental site assessment methods.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and audits.
• Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement in campus or community activities preferred.
