About the position

The Environmental Field Technician position at Jacobs involves a combination of field and office tasks focused on the operation of remediation systems and the implementation of environmental investigations and remediation projects. The role requires the technician to work primarily on-site in Charleston, WV, ensuring safety and compliance while performing various environmental tasks.

Responsibilities
• Oversee or perform field work tasks under minimal to no supervision, including remediation system maintenance, repairs, and environmental media sampling.

• Lead and support safety operations at the site.

• Set up, assemble, install, and perform minor troubleshooting or repairs of remediation equipment as directed.
,
• Inspect groundwater remediation systems and maintain compliance with permit conditions.
,
• Learn Quality Management Systems and apply processes in work conduct.
,
• Sample groundwater and other mediums such as soil, sediment, and air.
,
• Complete rigorous field documentation and participate in planning and reporting related to field tasks.

• Observe subcontractors and troubleshoot equipment failures, communicating repair needs.

• Interact with clients.

Requirements
• 2-7 years equivalent experience preferred; more experienced candidates may be considered.

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal technical training or an Associate degree preferred.

• Ability to follow explicit directions in multi-step procedures.
,
• Experience with Microsoft Office software.
,
• Physically fit to perform fieldwork within industrial facilities up to 90% of the time, and potentially wear a respirator if required.

• 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain/maintain it.
,
• Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
,
• Ability to participate in a random drug testing program.
