Job Description

Akkodis is hiring an Environmental Health Safety Specialist for a contract position in Carson, CA. The role involves implementing and analyzing safety controls, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate standards, and promoting a safe work environment. Key responsibilities include risk assessment, compliance monitoring, accident investigation, and HSE training. The pay ranges from $30 to $35 per hour, negotiable based on various factors.
Akkodis is seeking an HSE Specialist for a contract job with a client in Carson, CA. As part of the HSE team, you will help implement and analyze controls to manage site risks and ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements, promoting a safe, responsible work environment




Rate Range: $30/hour to $35/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.




Education/Technical Requirements:

HSE Legal Framework applicable to the site.Client HSE standards and their requirements.Identification, Evaluation, and Control of risks and impacts (Analysis tools)Knowledge of Chemical Substances, Explosive Atmospheres, Asbestos, Confined Spaces, Ergonomics, and Hazardous Work.Event investigation methods (5W's+H, 8D's, Root cause).Technical specifications of personal protective equipment, emergency equipment and devices, machinery, and operational equipment.Integrated Management Systems ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO 50001, ISO 19110, ISO 9001, Responsible SourcingIndustrial hygieneEnvironmental controlEmergency management (including chemical emergencies)Identification, Evaluation and Control of risks and impacts (Analysis tools)


Roles and Responsibilities

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

Maintain operational compliance with legal requirements, group HSE requirements, and other requirements applicable to the site.Keep the information associated with legal requirements updated (logs, records, reports); analyze the information to identify improvement actions.Apply Client's HSE standards on site and monitor compliance with each control associated with them.Know and apply Client HSE tools, methods, and reference systems on site.Execute the risk and impact assessment, providing support to all areas, identifying and monitoring the necessary reduction actions.Keep the hazard and aspects matrix updated, follow up on established controls and action plans.Ensures the operational control defined for each process, provides support, and maintains HSE rituals in each area.Executes HSE Gemba Walks (OJTs on the floor, PPE, HSE COPs, QRQC N1 and N2, inspections)Execution, treatment, and monitoring of the annual IGPs plan, as well as the identified deviations.Collect, record and ensure closure of HSE Alerts (@LL-HSE) on the site.Participates in accident investigations, uses methods to analyze causes; proposes and implements corrective actions (RPOs, 8Ds).Provides PPE to staff, keeps inventory up to date.Communicate, disseminate and enforce the SGHSE (Includes: Retex, STOPs, Weekly Diffusion, OJTs)Carry out training with HSE topics, in all required modalities (internal staff, visitors, suppliers and contractors).Provides support and support in document management, provides improvements, updates as required in relation to the SGHSE.Maintains the reports under his/her responsibility and ensures the HSE metrics at each level in a timely manner (e.g.: Pyramid, Environmental Report, others)Participates in HSE improvement project and with other areas (KAIZEN, PDCAs, DMDs)Support in the coordination and supervision of InHouse services under the responsibility of HSE.Review the correct state and operation of the systems for prevention and emergency response.Take an active part in brigade training sessions, promotes emergency drills, and belongs to a specific brigade.Perform authorization and verification of Hazardous and non-standard Work within the site.Perform the validation of HSE competencies required by personnel in their different scopes (DC-3, deputized OJT, others).Request the purchases required in the area and follow up on the corresponding billing.Provide support to interns' residency projects.
