The Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor is a critical role within a local manufacturing plant in Conroe, TX, responsible for directing and implementing all company safety programs. This position ensures compliance with applicable laws, standards, and requirements, playing a vital part in maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in risk assessment, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), and knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes. This direct-hire position is situated in a fast-paced environment, requiring a proactive approach to safety management. Key responsibilities include inspecting the facility and conducting risk assessments to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. The supervisor will make recommendations for corrective or preventative measures and will be responsible for researching and updating management on current OSHA and plant regulations that could impact safety. The role also involves completing incident or accident investigations promptly and maintaining all site-required documentation related to safety issues, such as accident reports, inspection reports, and training logs. The supervisor will draft inspection reports to document findings, develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and create a schedule for routine inspections and improvement initiatives. Training is a significant aspect of this role, as the supervisor will prepare, schedule, and present training on emergency response plans, workplace safety, and other relevant topics weekly. Monitoring compliance with safety procedures and taking corrective action when necessary is essential, as is supporting and promoting general safety in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the supervisor will ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and accessible, manage the company’s drug policy, issue hot work and confined space permits, and order safety supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE). The role requires managing transactions with external regulatory agencies, providing leadership to the senior management team regarding objectives and compliance issues, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.

• Five years of related experience in chemical manufacturing.

• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and OSHA regulations.

• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, PHA, PSM, and NFPA codes.

• Proficiency in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
,
• Ability to train and present safety information effectively.
,
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
,
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act (EPA) laws and regulations is a plus.

• Certifications in CPR and first aid are preferred.
