"e" inc. is a non-profit organization based in Boston dedicated to promoting science literacy and environmental stewardship among children and youth, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. Through hands-on science education programs, "e" inc. engages students in active learning and empowers them to protect the planet. The organization provides robust science education, involves students in meaningful action projects, and boosts their self-esteem. Programs are delivered in day schools, after-school settings, teen teams, and summer camps, focusing on beings, biomes, resources, and systems that drive the planet. "e" inc. aims to create science-literate 'doers' capable of making positive changes in their communities and beyond.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role in Boston, MA (Charlestown Navy Yard) for an Environmental Educator/Camp Counselor. Responsibilities include delivering hands-on environmental education programs to children and youth, developing and implementing curriculum, leading outdoor education activities, and mentoring participants. The role involves teaching about wildlife, ecology, and environmental systems, and encouraging students to engage in actionable projects to protect the planet. Our summer program runs from Aug 3-Aug 28 and full time hours would be available for this month. Starting in September, the role would shift to part-time teaching at different schools and after-school programs in Boston and Cambridge.
Pay Rate: $20/hr
Schedule:
August 3-28 (with training beforehand in July)
8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, (to 5:30 PM 2-3 times a week)
Option to continue for school-year programming, schedule to be determined
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Education or a related field.A passion for Environmental issues and activismAbility to engage and inspire children and youthStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working with diverse communities is a plus
