The Environmental Coordinator will assist in managing a company-wide environmental compliance program, evaluate Company environmental risk, and position the Company as a good neighbor and environmentally conscious community member. Keep abreast of changing environmental laws and manage the process of obtaining and securing appropriate permits from local, state, and federal agencies for Company operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
1. Ensure environmental compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations.
2. Work with Company managers to assist in preparation of required land, water, and air quality permit applications for timely submission to State and Federal government agencies.
3. Work with management to identify new sites, assist with design of mining and operational plans that maximize total value of resources while maintaining compliance with permits.
4. Provide leadership, training, and inspections of mining and construction operations to assure compliance with all permit requirements.
5. Prepare for and participate in public hearings regarding requests for land use with local governments or decision-making bodies.
6. Maintain/oversee files and databases including lease renewals, environmental permits, and permit conditions.
7. Establish good public relations in an ongoing effort to build and maintain a "good neighbor" rapport with both the public and local government units regarding operations.
8. Manage Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure programs.
9. Keep abreast of current and changing State/EPA regulations impacting Knife River operations.
10. Complete and oversee regular operations inspections to identify corrective actions.
11. Assist in implementing annual training focusing on regulations, compliance practices, and company policy.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
13. Travel to sites outside of Idaho will be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. BA/BS in Environmental Management or related field; or: minimum 5 years' experience in management of environmental programs for industry, a
regulatory government agency, similar organization, or significant industry experience with
strong environmental focus.
2. Experience writing environmental permit applications or scientific reports.
3. Experience speaking in a public setting.
4. Experience with Drone applications and ArcGIS applications is preferred.
