Entry Level Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist

Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is looking for a talented Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our team and support projects throughout Vermont.

Please note: our office will be relocating from South Burlington to Winooski in April 2025.

Responsibilities
• Field data collection (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil gas sampling) to support site assessments
• Observe and document construction and remediation activities for compliance with approved plans
• Observe and document drilling activities (soil borings and monitoring well installation)
• Leveraging technology to support data management and visualization
• Assist with writing technical reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda

Skills and Attributes
• Ability to work in field and office settings
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including directing and managing subcontractors
• Motivated, with strong ability to problem solve and work independently
• ArcGIS experience/coursework preferred but not required.

Qualifications
• 0-1 years of environmental consulting experience required
• 1-3 years of environmental consulting experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to travel to a location, walk/hike and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and ability to carry equipment and supplies
• OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required after 30 days of employment (cost covered by VHB)
