The American Association for Public Opinion Research seeks an Energy Policy Analyst to join their Analytics and Digitalization group. The role involves conducting research and analysis to support the transition to a decarbonized energy grid. Candidates can work from various locations with a hybrid schedule, requiring approximately three days on-site per week. Responsibilities include data preparation, impact analysis, and effective communication with stakeholders.

We assure that energy systems work safely and effectively, using increasingly digital solutions, and help industries and governments navigate many complex, interrelated transitions in the energy industry.About the roleJoin the Energy Policy Analyst position in our Analytics and Digitalization group. Use your problem‑solving and analytics skills to help key energy stakeholders develop a safe, reliable, equitable, and carbon‑free electric grid. You will conduct research, understand impacts, and optimize strategies of utility‑scale energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resource programs.Location options: Portland, OR; Madison, WI; Medford, MA; Oakland, CA; Portland, ME, with dynamic hybrid schedules (≈3 days per week on site). Other DNV offices may also be considered.What You’ll Do AnalyticsApply deep curiosity to diverse technical challenges supporting decarbonized grid transition.Clean and prepare large datasets for analysis.Proactively check all work for errors.Develop and implement study designs using RCT and RED methods.Apply matched‑comparison algorithms.Design survey samples and perform post‑survey analysis to provide statistically valid insights.Estimate site‑level and panel energy consumption regression models using time of week, temperature, change‑point, or other models for thousands of customers.Develop short‑term and long‑term impact results across multiple population characteristics.Conduct other ad‑hoc regression, statistics, algebraic, and numerical calculation tasks to aid determining impact of demand response and energy efficiency programs.Follow analytical trends in the energy industry.Maintain existing programmed analyses and identify potential improvements.Task ManagementDesign quantitative and qualitative analyses to answer customer questions within time, scope, and budget constraints.Communicate proactively with project managers, subject matter experts, and teammates to ensure tasks are completed within project requirements.Behavior and CommunicationContribute to reports and presentations by writing concise methods, key findings, and recommendations.Communicate proactively and effectively with staff of all levels to find information, learn new skills, troubleshoot problems, and address complex issues.Present and write about technical information in a meaningful and impactful manner to stakeholders and clients.Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.Self‑manage to deliver quality results on time, ensuring best methods are used correctly and logically.What We Offer Generous paid time off (vacation, sick days, company holidays, personal days)Multiple medical and dental benefit plans to choose from; vision benefitsSpending accounts: FSA, Dependent Care, Commuter Benefits, company‑seeded HSAEmployer‑paid, therapist‑led virtual care services through Talkspace401(k) with company matchCompany‑provided life insurance, short‑term, and long‑term disability benefitsEducation reimbursement programFlexible work schedule with hybrid opportunitiesCharitable matched giving and volunteer rewards through our Impact ProgramVolunteer time off (VTO) paid by the companyCareer advancement opportunitiesBenefits vary based on position, tenure, location, and employee election.Compensation (California, Washington, New York, Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Maryland)DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role.
