The Director of Environmental Compliance at GAF in Boise, ID is responsible for establishing and overseeing corporate environmental programs and ensuring compliance with regulations. Job Summary

Director of Environmental Compliance is responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing corporate environmental programs, permitting, remedial efforts, and ensuring compliance with government regulatory authorities. The role drives strategy and oversees implementation of environmental practices at all locations, working with site EHS staff to support plant operations. Reports directly to the Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety and oversees two direct reports and contract personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Create a future‐state vision for environmental excellence and a well‐defined, multi‐phased execution strategy.Oversee all aspects of the company's environmental initiatives, working alongside third‐party vendors and environmental counsel to achieve company objectives.Provide technical expertise, guidance, and leadership to implement programs such as remediation, wastewater, regulated waste, SPCC, air emissions, and environmental sustainability strategies.Have a general understanding of federal and state environmental regulations and evaluate and interpret requirements as they apply to operations.Partner across functions to ensure robust systems are in place to meet regulatory and stakeholder expectations in environmental compliance.Evaluate and recommend options to improve air pollution control technology.Prepare permit applications and air emission calculations.Perform calculations to support reporting, permit applications, and compliance requirements for air emissions, chemical inventories, and water discharges.Serve as a resource to compliance, engineering, and operations staff.Work with project teams and plant personnel to ensure environmental compliance at new and existing facilities.Monitor emerging trends in environmental programs and regulations; identify, communicate potential impacts, and develop strategies to ensure preparedness.Train, mentor, and develop EHS resources and leadership with respect to environmental programs, requirements, and risks.Participate in incident investigations as a team member and subject‐matter expert to identify root causes and effective corrective actions.Partner with Senior Leadership on potential acquisitions.Liaise with internal and external counsel and subject‐matter experts on environmental projects, matters, and regulations.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering required.Postgraduate degree preferred.Professional Engineer preferred.15+ years of environmental management experience, including 10+ years managing people and engineering.Ability to travel overnight up to 50%.Problem‐solving using standard engineering/scientific methods.Adaptability to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on client success.Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders.Strong strategic thinking, problem‐solving, and decision‐making skills.Commitment and engagement with a high level of work ethic.Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.Salary

Base salary range: $153,000–$195,500.
