Job Description

Savion is seeking a Director of Permitting & Environmental in Kansas City, MO, to lead permitting and environmental efforts for renewable energy projects. The role involves collaboration with project managers, preparation of permit applications, and representation in public forums. Candidates should have a BS/MS in relevant fields and at least 10 years of renewable energy permitting experience, including 5 years in leadership. Position Details

The successful candidate will be a member of our Permitting & Environmental Team supporting all aspects of federal, state, and local permitting and environmental due diligence for utility scale renewable energy projects.

Job Responsibilities
• Lead permitting & environmental efforts on solar, wind and energy storage development teams working on projects throughout the western United States
• Strategically collaborate with Project Managers to develop project schedules and budgets as part of an overall project strategy
• Lead development of permit applications and amendments, reports, regulatory submissions and data analysis
• Supervise the preparation of permit matrices and oversee implementation of third-party environmental surveys including, but not limited to threatened and endangered species surveys, wetland and stream delineations, cultural resources surveys, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
• Manage and direct the preparation of technical submittals to agencies.
• Develop and approve scopes of work for projects in collaboration with vendors
• Lead solicitations and receipt of proposals from vendors, and invoice review and approval
• Represent the company and provide subject matter expertise in public forums including public hearings, landowner meetings, and conferences
• Schedule, lead preparation for, attend and actively participate in agency meetings and legal proceedings
• Provide support for project bids, power purchase agreements and project sale processes and associated due diligence efforts

Required Qualifications
• BS or MS in natural resources, environmental sciences, environmental policy; or other similar area of concentration.
• Minimum 10 years of direct renewable energy permitting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Project management skills and an ability to be highly organized and manage multiple projects, processes, and tasks simultaneously.
• In-depth familiarly with and understanding of the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation & Liability Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act and National Environmental Policy Act and the general agency recommendations for complying with those regulations
• Demonstrated experience at Federal, State, and local permitting for renewable energy projects
• Excellent written and presentation communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with both internal and external stakeholders about project priorities
• Ability to work expediently to meet aggressive deadlines and ability to manage multiple parallel deadlines
• Willingness to learn new concepts—in renewable energy, permitting, environmental, engineering, regulatory, etc.
• Be a team player and comfortable in working in a close-knit, fast-paced environment
• The position will require up to 30% travel
• Position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office or remote
• Title and salary commensurate with experience
