Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls and HVAC Technician to join our team in Nova Scotia. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this role is responsible for servicing and maintaining HVAC mechanical and control systems. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance to HVAC systems within the commercial facilities, startups and commissioning to ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to technical excellence and customer satisfaction, continuously developing their skills to provide proactive and reliable service. This position offers an opportunity to work on a variety of HVAC and control systems, supporting customers in achieving optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Service and Maintenance

· Performs service and maintenance jobs on HVAC mechanical and control systems that are mid to moderately challenging.

· Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC mechanical and controls issues including refrigeration, ventilation, electrical, electronic, digital controls, etc.

· Provides proactive service and recommendations for future repairs and improvements to help optimize systems.

· Identifies opportunities for retrofits of mechanical and control systems to help generate business.

· Performs startups and commissioning of systems efficiently and effectively to ensure successful completion of jobs.

· Completes and submits work order reports in a timely manner.

Retrofit & New Installations

· Conducts retrofits and installations of HVAC mechanical systems that are small to medium in size.

· Performs startups, installations, and commissioning of all elements of a HVAC mechanical and control systems to help develop technical skills and knowledge.

Systems Diagnostics & Applications

· Develops an understanding of entire HVAC processes and applies knowledge in performing system diagnosis, startup, and commissioning, and developing solutions to remedy or improve the process.

Customer Service

· Provides excellent customer service and develops key customer relationships by providing proactive service and recommendations

· Communicates effectively with customers and team members on what work is being done.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Post-secondary education in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning coupled with 5-8 years of experience in service-oriented environment within a similar industry.

· Certification requirements or working towards HVAC Journeyman, Gas Technician 1 License and Oil Burner Technician License is considered an asset.

· Good knowledge of HVAC and controls systems, energy management systems, as well as mechanical and electrical drawings.

· Strong troubleshooting skills combined with good analytical skills.

· Good communication skills with ability to provide excellent customer service skills. Fluency in more than one language is an asset.

· Excellent organizational skills combined with good time-management to ensure installation jobs are executed efficiently and effectively.

· Self-motivated with the ability to sort through work orders and set priorities.

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work well with others.
