Job Title: Consulting Specialist - Energy Management
About the role:

BSI's Consulting Services Division is seeking an experienced Energy Procurement Consultant to provide day-to-day operational support to our client and act as an extension of the client's energy procurement function. The successful candidate will work on a variety of tasks to support the development and management of energy data, validate utility invoices, track renewable energy data, and support energy budgeting and forecasting.

The Consultant will work with the Director and various stakeholders to ensure that energy procurement is optimized and that clients are able to meet their energy management objectives effectively.
Responsibilities:

Portfolio Database Development and Management:
• Support the development of a database in Power BI, Smartsheets, or an equivalent tool, to track and analyze energy consumption, billing rates, and utility information.
• Design and maintain a database that includes energy usage, billing details, contract information, and other data to support energy management objectives.
• Gather and track changes in supplier information, meter data, and site details to ensure accurate database management.

Invoice Validation & Analysis:
• Review and validate monthly utility invoices for accuracy and ensure billing consistency with energy consumption and agreed-upon rates.
• Investigate discrepancies and work with utility suppliers to resolve issues and re-issue corrected invoices when necessary.
• Ensure accurate validation of commodity and non-commodity costs by reviewing contract terms, consumption data, and billing information.

Renewable Energy Reconciliations:
• Track, review, and validate renewable energy project generation data from suppliers, ensuring accurate reporting of renewable energy consumption.
• Manage Environmental Attribute Certificate accounts, including Renewable Thermal Certificates and RECs, and ensure reconciliation of certificates against generation and consumption.

Actual and Forecast Position Reports:
• Develop Actual & Forecast Position Reports for the US portfolio of utilities, using data from supplier portfolio tools, consumption predictions, and invoices.
• Provide Year-on-Year and Month-on-Month comparisons and visualizations for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
• Create and maintain reports that highlight cost/consumption changes, with accompanying commentary on causes.

Budget & Forecast Tool Creation, Training, and Updates:
• Develop a tool to assist with energy budgeting and forecasting at the site and business unit level.
• Support the tool with relevant data, visualizations, and functionality to track energy consumption, pricing, and forecasting.
• Provide training to site and business unit Finance teams and be available for ongoing support.

Ad-Hoc Support to Director:
• Provide additional support to the Director as needed for various energy procurement-related tasks.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A degree in a related field (Energy Management, Business, Engineering, etc.)
• Proven experience in energy procurement, utility data management, and energy consumption analysis.
• Experience with portfolio tools such as Power BI, Smartsheets, or similar.
• Familiarity with renewable energy, Environmental Attribute Certificates, and utility invoicing systems.
• Strong analytical skills, including experience validating and reconciling utility invoices.
• Ability to develop and maintain databases for tracking energy consumption and costs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

The salary for this position can range from $76,500 to $99,000 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
