TC Energy is hiring a Construction Technician in Rayne, LA, to support pipeline construction and maintenance. The role involves tasks like coating pipelines, assisting welders, and operating power tools, with a strong emphasis on safety. Candidates should have a high school diploma and two years of mechanical experience. The position requires frequent travel (75%) and a valid driver's license. Overtime pay is available.

The Opportunity
Our Rayne, Louisiana Construction Services team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in the region to help safely build and maintain the integrity of our natural gas pipeline infrastructure across the United States. The Construction Technician will support pipeline construction and mechanical activities associated with pipeline maintenance and construction.
The successful individual will possess a high degree of respect for safe work habits, display a great work attitude, and work effectively in a construction environment while acting independently in the execution of pipeline maintenance and construction.
This position is eligible for overtime pay and requires frequent travel (75%) in support of pipeline construction activities.
What you'll do
• Coat pipelines
• Spot excavation activities
• Assist welders with welder activities
• Complete general labor activities on various types of projects
• Ship, receive, and unload materials for projects
• Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.
• Gather MTR's for all materials that are applicable to a project
• Perform red line reviews/FMR's and work with internal/external engineering as needed
• Assist with ordering of welding consumables
• Order and manage inventory of coating materials
• Operate equipment that is necessary to off-load trucks
• Oversee small equipment certification logs and ensure compliance
• Catalog and complete project record binders for all projects
• Assist crew leader and associate with obtaining documentation, op qualifications, and procedures
• Assist crew on constructability reviews, safety aspects, and compliance for projects
• Cross train with project planner and fill-in as needed to support program
• Assist planner on information gathering for quotations and other engineering data as needed
• Complete daily inspections forms
• Other tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Two years of work experience in a mechanical related environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Valid CDL license or ability to obtain license
• Pipeline or construction industry experience
• Computer proficiency to include experience with SAP
This position requires candidates to
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license (CDL preferred) and safe driving record
• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
• Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks for emergency response purposes
• Frequent travel to other company locations to support construction activities, which will involve overnight stays away from home
Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position. Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.
