About the position

The Conservation Technician (Seasonal) position at Laguna Canyon Foundation is a field-based role focused on habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and various conservation projects. The technician will work closely with the Field Crew under the supervision of the Conservation Coordinator. This role is essential for implementing a variety of projects aimed at preserving and enhancing the natural environment of Laguna Beach, California. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work required to meet project deadlines and objectives. The position demands extensive physical labor in challenging conditions, including traversing difficult terrain and working in adverse weather. Responsibilities include off-trail travel, steep slope navigation, and the use of herbicides and power tools such as string trimmers, brush cutters, and augers. The technician will also be involved in moving heavy materials and equipment, which requires physical strength and stamina. Key tasks include native plant seed collection and sowing, propagation and installation of native plants, irrigation system installation and maintenance, mechanical and chemical weed control, and trail maintenance and repair. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong work ethic, be dependable, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude. Experience working outdoors is preferred, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The role is critical to the mission of the Laguna Canyon Foundation, which is dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the natural habitats in the region.

Responsibilities
• Implement habitat restoration projects as part of the Field Crew.

• Perform trail maintenance and repair tasks.

Requirements
• 0 - 1 years of experience working outdoors or in a related field.
