THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Community Planner I to support our work in shaping equitable and sustainable communities. You will assist in planning projects, research, policy analysis, and zoning recommendations while collaborating closely with our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support project leads on comprehensive plans, community visioning, community engagement, zoning, and housing plans.
· Conduct research, data analysis, and policy development.
· Present complex information to the public, local boards, and committees.
QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, public policy, housing, or related fields + 2 years of experience
· Knowledge of land use planning, public policy, and sustainable development.
· Familiarity with Massachusetts land use laws (MGL Ch. 40A, 40B, 40R, etc.).
· Strong research, writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
· Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
· Ability to attend evening meetings; a valid driver’s license is preferred.
PREFERRED:
· Master’s degree in planning or a related field
· Experience with social media management (LinkedIn), InDesign, and Canva
· 1-2 years of professional planning experience (internships included).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
· Salary: $70,000 - $79,000 (based on experience).
· Schedule:
o 40 hours a week, M-F
o Including some evening meetings and occasional weekend engagement events
o Hybrid (minimum two in-office days with a minimum of 16 hours in office in Roslindale, MA)
BENEFITS:
· 100% employer-paid single-person health insurance.
· 401K with 4% employer match.
· Three weeks paid vacation time; one-week paid sick time; 11 federal holidays; and 16 hours paid professional development time annually.
· Professional development support (AICP certification, conferences, membership dues).
