Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Climate and Resilience Technical Lead and program manager to oversee and execute our growing portfolio of climate work. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing teams to successfully complete vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation alternatives, predictive modeling, resilience planning, ecologically focused restoration projects and design and implementation of a blend of gray and green infrastructure solutions for a diverse client-base including federal, state, and municipal governments. An understanding of weather, and risks associated with meteorological forecasting is a plus.
This position is situated within our Environmental Management (EM) Market Sector and will require working collaboratively with other technical areas within EM as well as our Applied Professional and Technology Solutions Business Area, which provides geospatial and data solutions for a variety of projects and customers.
The desired candidate will be comfortable providing day-to-day technical and staff oversight as well as leading marketing and client relationship efforts and program growth.
Responsibilities:
Technical
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and develop climate projection models
• Lead assessments, planning efforts, engineered designs, and implementation of climate adaptation efforts (e.g., coastal resilience)
• Leading a dedicated team in the assessment, planning, and development of plans and specifications for adaptation measures including, but not limited to green infrastructure, flood mitigation, climate resilience, and ecological stream restoration projects
• Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to clients
• Ensure project deliverables are produced on time and to the highest quality standards
• Proactively identify potential technical issues and aid in developing mitigation strategies
• Manage outside subcontractor and consultant activities/deliverables as required
• Track, monitor, and manage program/project progress, financials, schedules, and deliverables
Marketing, Public Representation, and Client Development
• Work closely with teammates to identify, pursue, and capture opportunities resulting in organic growth year over year
• Contribute ideas and recommendations to strategic plans
• Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships
• Identify business opportunities and develop effective proposals
• Establish and maintain industry connections and develop strategic partnerships
• Attend and present at trade shows, conferences, and seminars
• Maintain professional visibility by actively participating professional organizations
Required Experience/Capabilities:
• A minimum of 5 years of consulting experience conducting resilience and climate adaptation services, preferably for the Department of Defense
• Demonstrated client management and project management experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills with colleagues and clients
• Bandwidth to engage with multiple stakeholders to assess and perform vulnerability assessments and resilience planning actions
• Ability to manage projects to scope/schedule/budget and see through to completion
Education/Professional Credentials:
• BS, MS, or PhD in urban planning, landscape architecture, ecological engineering, or environmental sciences
• Certifications preferred (e.g., AICP Planning Certification, Professional Engineer Certification or Registration as a Landscape Architect)
